Fundraising & Recruitment taught the same question a maritime lawyer would ask about a flag registry; does the paperwork match the practice? Charity annual reports and ship MLC compliance certification are the same genre of document; both can be entirely valid and entirely insufficient at the same time. That gap, not the sea itself, is what this project is actually about. The sea is simply where the gap is easiest to see; AbeySea brings these stories alongside and aboard

That question comes from evidenced practice, not analogy. 5 years in regulated, high-volume & niche, specialist recruitment – NHS clinical, pharmacy frameworks, FCA regulated, multi-site engineering and logistics, preceded by 6 years in national fundraising networks and reporting results to senior leadership against hard targets. None of it maritime. All of it the same discipline, mapping policy against legislative change, finding and onboarding tough roles and being honest about what a report proves. That discipline is now steered deliberately toward maritime, underpinned by a multi-disciplinary MA and BA foundation.

• Niche, hard-to-fill, hard-to-onboard specialist recruitment (oncology nursing, pharmacists, clinical governance). The same skill maritime S&G roles need; crew, welfare, compliance and governance posts that are structurally difficult to source, harder to onboard well.

• Recruitment delivered inside regulated frameworks (NHS, FCA) – direct evidenced comfort operating inside an audited, compliance-bound environment; the posture maritime governance demands.

• Crisis-timescale delivery (COVID keyworker campaigns), regulated, reliable, not a steady state in sight

• National fundraising delivery, long term donations, high-volume weekly donor onboarding & reporting against KPI’s, building trust at scale, paperwork versus practice.

• What this isn’t; large scale process, systems design. The strength is bespoke, niche, specialist, finding & understanding the hard case, not re-engineering the whole pipeline

This project doesn’t resolve the fap between how the sea feels and what the law says about it; it holds the gap open, because the gap is where the real work is.
